Juniors worry about their future at 'Juniors'

Released 09-06-30, 17:59 by Simon (manager of Redditch Utd Juniors)

Several Redditch Utd Juniors players have expressed their concern about their long term future at the VM club, recent reports have announced.

This news comes less than a week after over 10 players were sold from the Redditch club, and the players left are worried that this high amount of selling will continue. One player who is particullary concerned is talent, Oscar De Brys, who senses that he will not be playing here much longer. In a statement to the media earlier today, he said "I'm enjoying my time at Redditch Utd Juniors, and being my homegrown club, I want to stay here long enough to be able to make an impact on the big stage. I know I'm playing first team at the moment, but this is in the lower leagues, and my recent very high training may persuade the manager to sell me on to a bigger club for the money."

And the money is the reason that Simon (Manager of Redditch Utd Juniors) first decided to start training youths. With a STG, he managed to make 200,000 profit on a handful of youths, and now with a whole squad of youths, he is hoping that he will generate a lot more.

However, he has adressed the recent concerns of his players by telling them that although he intends to sell them at some point, it is undecided when this will be."Of course I am going to sell my youths," he said, "but this is not going to be happening over night. When I feel that a player needs to move on, I will put him on auction, but until this happens, then they are still very much a Reds player."

Unfortunately, many fans are frustated by this new regime at the club. The club that once had over 1100 fans is now down below 400, and instead of being a mid-table Divison 4 side, they are not sitting bottom of Division 7 and it is already looking like their fifth relegation on the trot. Although Simon is undecided when he is going to sell his youths, he has reassured fans that in the long term things will be much better for the club. "We made 1.1 million from the sales of our old legends. We are already part way towards that figure, and we are looking to come back to the top leagues with similar standard players, but with a much more expanded stadium. This is where I feel that we lacked before, and because of our low income (only 150k a week), we couldn't realistically replace the retiring players at the speed they were going."

Redditch had attempted to solve this problem by selling their squad and upgrading to a LTG. As yet, this hasn't seen huge results, and of all the questions that the fans and players are asking, the only answer that can really be given is, "It will happen when it happens. But it WILL happen."
