Problematic upload of a new version

If you were online today between 10am and 4pm you would have noticed that the site ran rather slow. The reason to this was the new version which was uploaded earlier today. A bug caused the entire page to run lag.

Unfortunately it took us several hours to find the bug, but it is fixed now - everything is running smoothly again! :) Actually, the page is running faster than ever due the new version's optimized way of loading ads.

Besides this speed bost, the new version also holds the following:

[list] A new thread based mail system. You can try it out by clicking on Office > Mail in the top menu. We think the new system is really cool but at the same time, we believe there is are lots of things that still can be improved. If you have comments or suggestions we are very interested in hearing them. The new tactics editor that we have been testing the last couple of weeks is now the default editor. You can try it out by clicking on My club > Tactics in the top menu. It is now no longer possible to spam the Ombudsman if your case has been rejected several times. This gives the Ombudsman time for working on other cases. Small updates of the layout (i.e. drop-shadows in the top menu - it does not work in Internet Explorer though). [/list]

We have spent a great deal of time in relation with the new mail system on converting the mails from the old system. Mails sent between Friday last week and today are, due to technical reasons not converted yet. We have started the conversion of this relatively small amount of remaining mails, and we are expecting it to be finished tomorrow morning.

the "Unread mails"-counter in the top of the layout can be inaccurate until the last mails are converted. If the counter is showing an incorrect number, please do not report this as an error.

I like the concept of the new system, but I'm really missing the 'saved mails' feature. Please implement it if you can smiley

I like the new mail feature but a few suggestions :

- Have a conversation with more than one person at the same time.
For example : ( I message Dan & Sheepy and they both see what i wrote to them, are able to reply to what i said, and see what each other said also )

This would be handy for people running competitions and leagues and other things.

- A Select all option
For example, i have 23 pages of read messages i don't need, but the only thing that is stopping me from removing them is i don't have the time to tick hundreds of boxes and select delete. There needs to be a less time consuming method of doing this.

I'll update if i think of anything else.

Thanks for the suggestions. You CAN already write several people at the same time. Just separate each club name with a comma.

The select all options is definitely missing. It will be added tomorrow smiley

I think the improvments are really good also but what i would like most of all is an overall stats column in the players list for everyones club profile. i think it would really improve the game. Thanks

Excellent game, played it for over a year & i love it's simplicity. The mail system is a definite step forward & i think the new tactics editor will help a lot of people position their players in the right position.

I know i can send multiply messages at once to individuals but it would be really handy and a cool idea for them to be able to see the same message, to make a group discussion in private smiley

Nice upgrades but i am not sure on the tactics one....! before you could place your spare players to come on in any position if you get a injury....now they are limited to just one...please could you implement this it was a usefull thing to be able to do and you can do it in real football. so..if you are trying to make V-Man more realistic then please put it back in....!!!!!

Yeah, good point. You're not the only one stating this.

We did this to reduce complexity but as I agree on your point above, we will consider changing it again.

All the clubs you add to a conversation are participating in it and can see all messages written in it, so it is kind of a private group discussion smiley

Love it apart from a couple of things. Like I said before there is no 'save mail' feature which you've said you're sorting in the next couple of days smiley

The second thing is on the outbox section, you cannot see whether the receiver has read the mail or not which is a feature I liked (open/closed envelope). Will this be returning?
