Prize to the first winner of "The Quadruple"

126594 Rasmus Rønn Nielsen, The Dudes 9 March 2012, 11:57

A couple of months ago, we added some new achievements to the game:

  • The Double: Win a country's top league and primary cup in the same season
  • The Tripple: Win a country's top league, primary cup and The Super Cup in the same season
  • The Quadruple: Win a country's top league, primary cup, The Super Cup, and Virtual Manager World Cup in the same season

(To see a manager's achievements, click "Achievements" in the left navigation of the manager profile)

The Double was won for the first time December 11th when FC Innova triumphed in both Die Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal. Since then, The Double has been won an additional 21 times. Among the winners, you find some of the heavy clubs: Silkeborg IF (current #1 on the vifa rank list), Græsted United, and FC Kvædeparken.

The Triple was won for the first time January 15th by Team Svumpukkel (current #2 on vifa rank list) when he succeeded in come out victorious in both Portuguese League, Cup of Portugal, and Virtual Super Cup - all in the same season. What a performance!

Since then, only two clubs have been able to do the same: liverpools year (Feb 5th) and FC Innova (Feb 12th).

And how many how won the amazing Quadruple? No one! We need to change that!

The manager to achieve The Quadruple will get one year of free VM Premium.

Who do you think it'll be? :)

And have a nice weekend :D

i agree with u scott, use lower league teams get nothing. as per normal the super teams get richer and we continue to struggle on.

come on VM, give us smaller teams something to work towards and possibly win

147865 The Modfather, FC Quadrophenia 9 March 2012, 14:41
Well said Bitsnbobs united... the little clubs who will never get to the level of the big ones will always be shunned... we are the minnows of this game... think about it.. what these big clubs earn for one game it takes us smaller clubs a season to get...and when you do the maths they will always be pulling clear in the money steaks and club size... all outside of the top leagues are treated accordingly..as minnows.

126038 Ben Tapp, Tottenham Rockspur 9 March 2012, 15:01
Can we have cups which teams outside of the top league(s) have a chance of entering? Have a maximum rank for entry in cups for lower ranked teams?

Default_logo Simon Lippitt , CoventryAllStars 9 March 2012, 15:19
why do you always do things for the big teams...
what about us little teams
we all pay our money to have vm premium
yet you do the quaduple for the big teams
its a disgrace...

Default_logo dudey, the heebie jeebies 9 March 2012, 15:21
the heebie jeebies are going for the double next season - Scottish Division 3 and the johnstone paint trophy. Oh yeah thats right, no cups for the middle size teams.

139389 Jackson, The Hurricanes 9 March 2012, 15:26
I agree with all above comments save something for the little guys!

Default_logo Darren, Droylsden United 9 March 2012, 15:43
Well done VM. I've been a member for 4 years, paid for premium for 4 years, yet I'm excluded because you only appeal to the top league as usual. Might cancel my subscription after this latest loyalty bonus kick in the bollocks.

127285 Benjamin, Ajax 9 March 2012, 16:43
It took me a second to realize you were saying "nobody has won the quadruple since I implemented the achievement for it", not "nobody has ever won the quadruple".

It seems a bit harsh on Liverpool's Year that it appears you added the achievements in reaction to him winning the quadruple but he gets no mention.

156551 Taking a break, Hail To The Redskins 9 March 2012, 17:11
As others have said. You implement stuff like "Changing careers" etc to "make it more competitive for the little teams (which it won't by the way), yet seem to constantly reward the cartel at the top without ever offering anything for the rest of us. We all pay for VM Premium, so why is it only the top 5% of teams who get anything given to them in developments?

Default_logo Scotty, Crystal Palace CF 9 March 2012, 17:40
I agree also granted you have the newcomers cup but how about a lower cup than that for say under 5k vifa rank?

84946 Michael Holding, Whispering Death FC 9 March 2012, 17:54
If you don't like it then vote with your feet,

Never had a talent and i've managed to compete with the big boys, i like this idea!

156652 Stan-Jose the special one returns, Codex 9 March 2012, 18:17
Michael Holding, Whispering Death FC. Of course you like the idea, you have a chance of winning it. Don't be naive you can see why people are complaining. If vman are prepared to make this change for big clubs and winner gets one year free VM Premium, why not make one for small clubs too?? afterall we pay as well.

Default_logo Meld, Deltic Warriors 9 March 2012, 18:50
You must admit guys, this news is a bit of a downer for the smaller clubs. We only have the Newcommers to fight for and on most occasions it's won by one of these teams who stop playing for several seasons and then come back in and win it with top class players. I think you need to think of other cups in lower leagues, but take in to account the value, wealth and maybe the history of the team to give those smallers and newer teams a chance. Or how about a plate competition for those teams who get knocked out in the first and maybe the second round of the main cups.

122216 Herminio , azores eagles 10 March 2012, 00:52
would it not make more sense to have all divison 1,2,3,4 etc.. etc compete in their own divisons across the board- exmp all div 1's (portugal, denmark, germany, etc) all div 6's and so on.
That way even the poor clubs would make some money and on pretty even term

102111 Al Pastore, FC Westchester 10 March 2012, 05:25
What exactly would be the point of that Herminio? Clubs can just shift between countries when they can't hack it in their own native country. It's rare to find a lower Division without some powerhouse transfer from (most often Danish teams) another country's league. They of course quickly advance up the ranks making it that much more difficult for those that work hard towards it in their own country.

This is why i have just withdrawn from the "Newcomers Challenge", the teams that win it have been in VM for more than 2, or even 3 years, have players that are worth millions so teams that are in the lower divisions ( ie like me ) don't have a chance to win. I wouldn't call a club that's been in VM for about 3 years "Newcomers". Whats the point in me entering and wasting valuable resources like players energy and risking injuries when i never get past the 4th round, or hardly get past the 3rd round. I'm not going to mention names but one club i lost to in the "Newcomers" had a total squad value of over 6,500,000, most players had AT over 1,200 and had been in VM for over 3 years. Point proven?

341657 Ian MacFarlaine, The Stag FC 10 March 2012, 13:32
i also agree with Scott, the lower league teams seem to get nothing. And the super teams get richer and we continue to struggle on with just a glimmer of hope :-(.

Better get used to it!...

The single motivation of Vman is to keep people trying to get to the top for longer. This philosophy ( if thats the right word) equates to people paying more money. This site, above all else is a business for Rasmus et al. All game 'improvements' will have this fundamental aim at the forefront of their minds.

My advice, if you havent stumped up any money yet is to go elsewhere, there are other football manager type sites that look a bit more engaging.

Good luck, but prepare to be disappointed.

341657 Ian MacFarlaine, The Stag FC 10 March 2012, 13:44
Newcomers Challenge should be for players who have joined the game in the last 6 months ONLY regardless of their wealth.

For what its worth my opinion is that there should be national cup competitions for lower league sides (say divs 3&4 and another for 5&6 and below) with large rewards giving them the chance to break into the big time further to cup success.

Lower league sides need some glimmer of hope to be able to break into the top set, unfortunately this is always due to finances - so are there any ideas out there that we could get the powers to be to look at? i.e sell on clauses for players transferred under the age of 21? Cup win bonuses when defeating sides from higher divisions?

I don't mind that it takes a while to get to the top, i enjoy a challenge, it's the fact that the "Newcomers" challenge is just a way for big teams to get easy money, they belong in the FA Cup etc, there is a restriction of 1800 vifa points if i remember correctly, but this is still way too low.

116288 Uncle Fester, MOT Mavericks 10 March 2012, 18:12
Good attitude!, however i fear your zeal for a challenge will cost you , over more YEARS that you perhaps care to imagine.

148652 Benjamin, King Cobras FC 10 March 2012, 19:40
Colin, thanks for the compliment, and i have no doubt that what you said is probably going to be right. I see clubs that have been going since 2009 still in division 3. Could be that maybe they left for a while and came back, i don't know, but i do understand that financially it is going to take alot of patience.

VM use to have a gold, silver, and bronze cup about when I first joined ( 3 years ago), they each gave low, middle, and high-middle ability teams a good chance of winning a cup. Why can't they be brought back?
(BTW, they each had an appropriate prize fund.).

you should do a tournament within the division you are in so like if ur in division 3 in englnd all the teams from that division is entered to face each other, because there is no hope for the little man like me
