Final Whistle

Half way to WCTF

Written 14 July 2020, 16:21

After a few months since the PTF, we're now halfway to WCTF. The first team is seriously trimmed down, with only 12 players remaining and one other youth just promoted due to age but in no serious position to become even a substitute. More than this the first team's age has gone significantly up, some reaching the 32-33yo and having their last seasons in them before needing a replacement.
The good parts are the youth team where a lot of investment was done but a significant gap might be expected between returning to performance.
But having talented youth means we could reach WCTF by just selling two-three players am reaching the target while keeping a skeleton crew to challenge the 2nd division for now. It will take some time to have a stable team for 1st division and strategic investment still needs to be done. Target is to reach wctf before November and have the youth replace the first squad by end of the year with as low as possible investment in diets team squad as the players retire. This will be a good tradeoff since most of them were bought for cheap and trained to 70-80 rating before starting to drop in skills and possibly retire. Hoping to have them for the longest period as they served the club well, up to a season in first division.
Once the generation switch is done the stadium will be expanded and new youths will be recruited.
But that seems a long way from now, possibly end of the year when holidays will allow for more playing time.
