Sildegapet record famous win

Written 8 May 2012, 17:33

Sildegapet have recorded a win against Reggina Calcio in miraculous fashion. Josef Kiestra, the Sildegapet forward that will replace the retiring Maccarron as Sildegapet's main striker, put the whites in front with only his third goal for the Cottagers in the 15th minute as Sildegapet took their third shot of the afternoon. The lead up play had been impressive for such an inexperienced and young team, with Maccarron back heeling the ball into Kiestra's path who slotted home only his third goal to cement his place as Sildegapet's top goal scorer.

However hard Sildegapet's opponents pressed, they were always going to find it tough to beat Sildegapet's Adegoke Moneke. The Nigerian keeper looked in very good shape throughout the match and pulled off some incredible saves to deny Sildegapet's relegation battling opponents.

Although the result does not see the whites come out of the relegation zone, they have narrowed the gap on the teams above them. Although league survival is unlikely, if not impossible, Chowdhury believes that the result, although partially reliant on some excellent goal keeping, shows that the team does have a lot of potential. The whites were predicted to fall as low down as division 7 following their exodus of senior players, but many more results like that may keep them in division six or even as high as division five.
