Jonathan Maccarron has left the Cottage for the last time ever. He was signed by Britton on four separate occasions and played 1547 matches for the whites but only scored 493 times.
He was signed on to Sildegapet after Team Asterix let the 15 year old leave on free transfer. Britton asked Maccarron for a trial at the Cottage. After two years, Maccarron began to break into the fringes of the squad but felt as if he was being limited by the training facilities. After several bids in excess of 100,000 Credits were received for the 17 year old, he left.
Five years later, and he was back again. This time he was one of Sildegapet's main forwards but was sold after his 23rd birthday as the whites fell into administration. He was not to forget the 250 odd matches he played for the whites however and made a move to return at the age of 27. Yet another signing saw him jon the team that reached the Newcomers Challenge semi final but then fell in the semi finals against the eventual winners Dynamo Groby. However, just two years later he left once again but vowed to return to the Cottage.
On his 32nd birthday he signed once more on to the Cottage. He vowed to remain until he retired. Three years later, he decided to retire at the end of his contract.
This heralded the departure of the last of the old faces that were defeated in the Newcomers Challenge Final but lost in a close match against Brazil
He has become a trainer in our youth academy as he continues to repay the Cottage for our faith in him. The one thing he did say after several laps of the pitch in his last home game against Team Sloth in which he received a standing ovation from both sets of fans, was his disappointment in not winning the NCC.
