Written 23 December 2013, 12:45

City of Ely f.c, is no longer City of Ely f.c, as the clubs owner, John.W.Henry has decided to sell the club in a deal worth £13.8 million.

The new owner, Tony Fernandes, who made his billions from his air company, Air Asia, which makes an estimated revenue of $5.218 billion a year. His company provides flights that go all around the world.

Tony Fernandes, already owns a 66% in Championship side, QPR, and has invested just over £208 million in to the club since his take-over in 2011.

Former club owner, John.W.Henry revealed this short statement:
"It is with deep regret, that I have decided to sell the club to Tony Fernandes. I have done this, for a brighter future for the club, and so that the new investors bring in new ideas to take the club forward, as it was clearly not working out with me, and FSG in charge. We wish all the best at the club, and to all the supporters, as they have given me, and the board such respect and support since I took over back in 2012. I wish you farewell!"

A statement is soon to be revealed from new owners, Tony Fernandes in the next 24 hours. He is set to reveal his long-term plan and how he wants the club to be run. This could put manager, Brendan Rodgers, job under scrutiny, and could see him sacked from his position which he has held since the formation of the club back in 2012.
