Written 23 December 2013, 17:12

City of Ely f.c new owner, Tony Fernandes, has revealed a statement on his take-over of the club which happened around five hours ago.

"I am glad to announce that I am the new owner of City of Ely f.c. It is a great feeling that I am the new owner of such a legendary, and historical club which has so much history over the past seasons, which I know has won a record 20 titles in its 91 year history. There may be some changes at the club, now that I have come in, but it will only ensure success for the present and the future. I will hope to reveal some of my plans in the near future on the official club webpage. I want to reveal one thing though, and that is that manager, Brendan Rodgers, job will be safe! I know that he has been here since the formation of the club, and he is a big part of this clubs history and tradition, and I respect that, so he is safe in terms of job security!"

Tony Fernandes is set to have a press conference at Ely Road Stadium later today where he will announce his long-term strategy for the club, and how he is set to run things.
