3D Logos

What do you use to make 3D logos like Johns Army and Sky Blue Pink Chicks?

Paint.net with the Boltbait Plugin is how I make them. The effects are "Bevel selection" and Add depth. You also have to "rotate layer" from one of the top menus too.

Thanks Khal, that's really helpful. Is there a perspective tool so I can make my text and images look like they are on a 3D logo?

This is where I'm at
