Improved calculation of Stadion Credits

Rasmus Rønn Nielsen, The Dudes 23 November 2011, 13:08

In our previous blog post about the transition to the new stadion system we wrote the following:

Clubs with larger stadium have paid less per seat than smaller ones (due to larger package discounts). We will of course take this into account when making the calculation [for how many Stadium Credits we will pay]

This is not entirely correct. Both small and large clubs have had access to volume discounts when expanding their stadiums (by buying larger packages). However, our research shows that larger clubs more often than smaller ones, have had financial freedom to buy larger packages.

Therefore, we maintain our view, that clubs with large stadiums should get less Stadion Credits per seat they own. This is simply because they've paid less for them. We're not "cheating" anybody - we're just trying to make the most precise estimate of what people have been paying for their stadium, and then returning that amount. From the numbers we have at hand, we will find the most fair correlation between number of paid out Stadium Credits per seat and number of seat in the current system.

Alternatively, we could also pay out a fixed number of Stadion Credits per seat. However, that would mean that larger clubs will have a statistically higher chance of profiting from this whole conversation that smaller ones. And we obviously do not want that - just as we don't want anybody to get a uneven advantage from this conversion.
