Try the new match simulator!

Rasmus Rønn Nielsen, The Dudes 6 December 2012, 09:41

As you probably know, we've been working on a new match simulator for quite some time now. You can now, for the first time, try it in your own browser!

This doesn't mean it is done - we still have a lot of work to do. Most notably, the players are acting strange and sometimes they're outright stupid.

Since the last preview we've, among other things, added this:

  • Basic interpretation of player abilities. For instance, the players have different top speeds, acceleration, etc.
  • A summary page that gives you a comprehensive overview of the match. We're still using a lot of "dummy values" on this page though.
  • After the match, you're shown a "Match result popup" showing the match result and the goal scorer. Also contains a link to the match summary.
  • Pressure indicator (the ball that whizzes back and forth at the top of the match viewer screen when there's no highlights) is greatly improved.
  • If a team concedes a goal, they'll walk slowly back to their default positions while the other team celebrates
  • Throw in animation made more accurate.
  • Halves: The simulator now understand the concept of halves.
  • Extra time. Matches can now last more than 90 minutes.
  • Players position themselves more intelligently when there's a goal kick (they expect a long ball).

We've played a test match between my own team, The Dudes, and Bangs United with the new match simulator. You can see it here. It might take a little while to load the match viewer the first time.

You should also take a look a the match summary page (still not translated to English, sorry).

As always, we'd love to get your feedback. But, as I said, we still have lot of obvious bugs to fix. So we won't have time to respond to you all. When we've fixed all the obvious bugs, we'll do another round of feedback and go through as many of your suggestions as possible.

We hope you like what you see :-)
