December game: Globe Hacker

Rasmus Rønn Nielsen, The Dudes 19 December 2012, 09:55

During the past weekend, I participated in a competition called Ludum Dare. Put briefly, it's about making the funniest, most crazy, innovative, best and/or most interesting games in 48 hours.

You cannot do anything beforehand and you have to do everything yourself. This includes music graphics, sound effects, etc.

The theme this round was "You are the villain".

I named my game "Globe Hacker". You play a super hacker who wants to take over the entire Internet by hacking all "mainframe servers".

Usually, we have a special December/Christmas game here on Virtual Manager. We haven't had that this year. I thought this game might help improve that :)

I posted the game in the forums yesterday. So far, Razey Rovers is the best. He completed the game on Easy in 9:05. Just a few seconds better than my personal record.

The game requires Firefox or Chrome. It doesn't work with touch devices.

Here's a few good tips:

  • You can deselect your currently selected mainframe by hitting the Escape key or click with the mouse in an empty area.
  • You can send several attacks from the same mainframe by clicking several times.
  • Conquer as many mainframes as you can in the beginning where the resistance is the least. The indicator in the upper right shows the current resistance level from the authorities.
  • Focus on one area at a time.
