Game over Rasmus

Rasmus Rønn Nielsen, The Dudes 11 March 2013, 11:11

I've made a very difficult decision: I no longer want to continue my work on Viritual Manager. The company and the game will continue - but without me at the helm.

It's incredibly sad to say goodbye to your "baby" after 10 years of great experiences. It has been 10 fun but tough years. There have been defeats and victories. Both for me personally, but also for the game and the company as a whole.

When I started Virtual Manager while still in school, I didn't do it to make money or to get a lot of users. I did it because nobody had made the game I wanted to play.

Working on your own favorite game was the best thing in the world. As years passed, my enthusiasm for Virtual Manager has of course gradually faded a little. I still enjoy working on the game but I miss the euphoria of working on something you feel is the greatest thing in the world.

And that's why I've decided to "start over": I want to work on a game I feel is no less than fantastic. Not only because this is the most fun way to work, but also because that philosophy tends to breed the best products.

Whether or not I am actually able to realise this dream is another thing entirely - but the goal is defined and that's enough for me to continue.

Actually, I made the decision six months ago. At that time I decided, I'd round off my work with something remarkable. And that something were to be the new match simulator and tactics editor that we've been working on for a long time. So I won't stop my Virtual Manager work immediately. And that's why I won't be saying "Thanks and goodbye" just yet. I want to deliver these features before I go. We've poured our hearts into this release and we're really looking forward to release it. But we're still not quite done.

I'm not exactly sure what I'll be working on next - but it will be some kind of game. You can keep yourself updates with my future project through Twitter or Facebook (click Follow).

But remember, the company, Playonic, and Virtual Manager will live on :)
