Our next major focus

Bubbles, FC Sunnyvale Developer 13 January 2014, 13:06

In my last blog post, I talked about the things we'll be working on in the near future.

Bug fixes, improved tactics editor, documentation and other small improvements, will be taking up all our time for the next 2-4 weeks, but I know that many of your are impatiently waiting to hear more about what we are going to work on after that.

Here at the office we've had several brainstorming sessions and discussions about updating the training system to support the new stats. The major challenge is, as you know, to make sure that you feel progress in training, and that you get the information you need about the players' development.

But every time we've discussed it, we've always ended up talking about crazy ideas for a lot of other changes and features we are very keen on implementing. From these discussions we've come to realise that the new training features need to be thought of as part of a greater picture.

This larger picture will the our next area of focus, it'll happen under the heading of:

Talent development

We know that talent development is the most important part of the game for many of you, so this will be the next part of the game to get an overhaul.

This overhaul will touch on a number of related features:

Training

Training needs a touch-up. First of all, we need to create new training programmes, and we want you to know exactly which stats a specific training programme affects. We are also considering making it possible, in some way, to make your own customised training programme.

As the manager you need to have much more detailed information about each player's development and progress. We have some really exciting ideas for displaying your training results and statistics.

Scout

The first step in the development of talent is, of course, to find the talent, so the scouts will get a swift kick in the behind! It should no longer take 3-10 days to get a useful result from your scouts, and we even have a cunning to plan to possibly let him discover exciting untrained youth players as an extra feature.

Youth academy

Yes, youth academy! We have outlined a set of features that we believe are realistic to implement in a relatively short time, and which will really give a boost to the game for clubs who like to develop talent.

When will it be finished? Tell us more!

I have purposely left out most of the details in this post, because everything is still at the brainstorming stage. We need to first finish our current refinement work before we can start planning these things. Planning work will begin in earnest around mid-February, and at that time we'll tell you more about the details.
