Virtual Manager goes offline and single-player

Bubbles, FC Sunnyvale Developer 1 April 2014, 13:43

The hardest part of being game designer on a multiplayer game like Virtual Manager is that you must take into account the enormous variety of wants and wishes from many different parties.

Many games adapt their difficulty level dynamically so that players are challenged, but also experience success and progress. This sort of thing really isn't possible for us in Virtual Manager, as everyone plays against each other, and if we give benefits to one club, then it'll be to the detriment of another.

Also, there are many people who don't actually like multiplayer or games that require an always-on connection to the internet, as EA found out when they released the latest version of SimCity.

Just like EA eventually did with SimCity, we've also learned from our mistakes, and in the past several months we have been working on turning Virtual Manager into an offline singleplayer game.

This means that each manager from now on will feel that they are the focus of the game, and it will no longer be a long, hard struggle to reach the very top of the leagues and win the Super Cup.

You will be able to set the difficulty just the way you prefer, and you'll have the power to decide the level of entrance fees, players' stats, and how hard it will be to win your matches.

Starting tomorrow, the 2nd of April, the website virtualmanager.com only serve as an online store, where the game can be purchased and downloaded. You will also be able to import your existing club into the single player version, so that you won't be starting from scratch.

System Requirements

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4 or higher), XP , Vista, or Windows 7;
  • Pentium III, Athlon or higher recommended;
  • 256 Mb RAM (512 MB RAM recommended);
  • Up to 1.5 Gb available HDD space;
  • 1024x768 resolution (higher resolution recommended).

To begin with, the game will be released on Windows, but over the next few months we will also be working on a version for Mac and Linux.

Update 13:45

We have just received word that the international union of stadium security personnel has announced that they have gone on strike today at 13:45.

Be on the lookout for breaches in security during your matches.

April Fools! :)
