Wanderers Reign Supreme In Local Derby Clash

Both sets of fans had been eagerly anticipating the local derby between Franko FC and Bedford Wanderers but The Wanderers faithful will have been the happier group after their sides' 2-0 victory in a hard fought tie.

The Wanderers continued their undefeated season following their victory but Franko FC put up a strong fight, allowing The Wanderers only 57% of the possession, considerably less than the team has been enjoying all season.

Much of the game took place in the midfield of the pitch however, Hayden Ericson spotted an opening in the Franko FC defence and opened up the scoring with a precise shot in the 30th minute.

Franko FC manager, Tom Franklin's half-time speech had a clear impact on his squad and, while not mounting any serious attacks on The Wanderers' goal, they managed to thwart their opponents time and time again. However, a late lapse in concentration allowed Ericson to get a scruffy goal past Franz Berg in the 82nd minute.

The Bedford Wanderers manager, Gideon Spratt, was rather complimentary of Franklin's side saying: "The boys played fantastic football as we've all come to expect but I think Tom deserves some praise for the way his side played. We weren't given much room to play our football and they really made it difficult for us every step of the way."
