Bedford Wanderers

Moving to Scotland!

Written 9 July 2017, 15:12

Bedford Wanderers fans will still have something to celebrate after a disappointing season with the news that their application to join the Scottish League system had been accepted. Bedford Wanderers would otherwise have dropped back into the English Divison 5 having lost out on goal difference to Ferring Albion after a turbulent season which saw The Wanderers lose 0-4 to Lagerbon FC and then go on to beat them 4-0 later in the season.

The highlight of the season for Bedford Wanderers was their cup run in the Newcomers Challenge where they managed to get to the 4th round before being beaten by Amstrup BK 2-1 in a very close fought game.

Bedford Wanderers had previously enjoyed a moderate amount of success in the Scottish Division 3 until the 2016-12 season when the club hit financial difficulties and folded so the news that the club had been accepted into the Scottish pyramid has been warmly welcomed by fans of the club. Chairman and club legend Joe Gale had this to say: "I have many fond memories of playing in Scotland with this club and I'm very excited at seeing the club move back to the Scottish leagues and hopefully, with the calibre of players we have at our disposal we'll be able to bring success and bragging rights to the fans."
