Tapponautit

The end of the journey

Written 13 December 2018, 21:30

The journey of Tapponautit restarted after a long time on 13.5.2017 and now, on 13.12.2018, after 19 months, it comes to and end. The club will officially go into a hiatus for a time that's still unclear, and could be permanent.

24.1.2018 the GM Tappajanautti released a list of 19 players that he guaranteed would retire as a member of Tapponautit, and that did happen. With Jose Miguel De La Cruz retiring 2 days ago, each one of those players are now gone, and they played their last game in a Tapponautit jersey. During this time, the team played 82 seasons, 8 of them in Spain, the other 74 in the USA. In these seasons, the team achieved 28 division titles, from which 12 were gold trophies for division championship, 8 silver trophies for second place in the division and 8 bronze trophies for third place in the division (2 bronze trophies and 1 silver from Spain). From these, the USA Division 4 championships in 2017-32 and 2017-50 seasons are concidered to be the highlights.

During the clubs whole time, there have been legendary players, like Alfred Agger. On this run, the club has added to those legends. First off, the first acquired player on this run, John Mark Terry. The English defender served as a captain for many seasons and is concidered to be the most skilled player in the clubs history. Secondly, the 2nd highest goal scorer in the clubs history, Atdhe "The Armageddon" Dallku. The Albanian striker was an unbelievably clutch goal scorer who always came through in big matches. During his time in the team, he scored 401 goals, from which most were very important. His performance earnt him the honor of having his number 9 retired in the club. And last but definitely not the least, Dallkus partner in crime, Benjamin Parsa. #11 from Afghanistan is the highest scoring player in the history with 602 goals. Parsa went to retirement rather quietly and didnt want his number retired, but it wont surely be worn in the team again out of pure respect. Very honorable mention goes to the recently retired Jose Miguel De La Cruz who now holds the record for most matches played in the clubs history with 2089.

In the official ending party we heard many speeches from almost all the players. We couldnt quote them all, but here are some. The captain John Mark Terry first:

"What a club. Every single guy here gave their all every single night. It was an absolute honor to be a part of this team, and an even bigger one to wear the C. The staff here was so helpful and professional and, i know this gets said a lot, the fans were better than any I've ever seen. I own a lot to this club, and it will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you."

The striker legend Dallku:

"I'll keep this short. Thank you all. It was a great pleasure to play along with all these people and to put on this jersey to each match. I'm very thankful for the opportunities I were given here even though I might not have always seemed the best. Each second on the field were amazing, thanks to my teammates and the fans of course. Thank you."

The last speech was held by the GM himself:

"Players, staff, friends, family. All of those mean the same thing to me. And all of them can be put into a one word, Tapponautit. You all here, and the ones who couldn't make it, have been, are and will be my friends, and a part of my family. When I stepped back into my office on that May afternoon, I was excited. I thought to myself 'I will build an amazing team, that will do great things'. But I never imagined it would be this great. What you all have done, is something I can't describe. It's just incredible. We have had rough times, we have had fantastic times, but it's always been a pleasure to work with all of you. And, of course, the fans. You guys have been mentioned a lot tonight, and over the time, but it's still not enough. I'm sure that everyone here is ever thankful to all of you, you have gotten us through a lot. Every night we have gone out there to play for you. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you. I'd also like to give a special thanks to my good friend over in Spain, Steven Blue from BlueWasTaken FC. During our time in spain, he was extremely friendly and helped us in the new area. He also gave the club a big donation, which made many new changes possible. So thank you Blue, thank you. Days like this are always sad, but everything comes to an end. We have had an unbelievable journey, and we'll work on starting a new one some day. But until that, thank you to everyone one more time. You all mean the world to me and I could never praise you enough. Have a merry christmas and a happy new year, Tapponautit are officially on a hiatus."

The celebrations went on for a long time even after the speach and still continue. We here at the press do also want to thank everyone who have read our releases and given us motivation to move forward. We wish to congratulate the club for it's run, and hope all the best for everyone in the future. Thank you.
