Stalybridge Celtic FA Cup defeat

Written 17 January 2018, 10:41

Yesterday, Celtic played in front of an almost empty stadium at the tiggers playground, with just over 2000 supporters making an attendance. However, the atmosphere did not prevent the home side from playing high-quality football which was difficult to cope with.

On the half hour mark, tiggers striker Radim Homalo slotted home with an excellent finish, giving Embrasas little chance in making a save. However, the lead did not last long, with Borge Herlof equalising 8 minutes later to make it 1-1. It was a great moment for our 200 away fans, having made the long trip on what was a cold night at the playground. Celtic managed to hold on until half time, however soon after the break tiggers striker Joel Moody put the home side ahead with a 2-1 lead. Things only got worse, when Radim Homalo scored his second of the afternoon, with what was another fantastic finish. It looked as though the game would finish at 3-1, until Donnie Mccurtis piled on a bit more misery for the Celts, scoring a last minute goal to bring the game to a heavy halt and a 4-1 defeat.

The owner however has only focused on the positives to what was a spirited performance from our boys, playing against a much stronger opposition. Celtic were underdogs the entire time and only proved that to be correct. As a club, we look forward to next seasons FA Cup and plan to progress.

Don't worry, You'll find someone who also has a bad day. I've had that happen to me.
