Crawley Town FC

Preview: Winchester Wednesday

Written 27 December 2016, 21:15

Today hosts a huge game, where the side from Hampshire will look to try and win.

Today's visitors:
After being founded just 8 seasons ago, Wednesday have seen a rapid rise and they are doing well in 5th place last season.

A word with the manager:
Good evening and welcome to Thonny Power, his players, staff and supporters who have made the 48 mile trip from Hampshire today. Since being founded, their club have done extremely well and got some good results against Poges Boy (2-1) and The Allsorts (3-0). Despite Thonny only being 33, he knows how to manage and is very experienced at this level.
I thought the players were unlucky to lose to GWR Railway Boys in the NCC, but you can't hide the disappointment. We played very well in our last league game after Seaward's (Milburn) red card. We fought with 10 men and were unlucky to only get a draw. The players are in good morale and I know they are able to bounce back tonight.
We have produced many good performances this season and despite player suspensions, we have produced valuable points. Being in the promotion spots is good, But we need to keep it going if we are going to have a chance of going up. Speaking to some of our all the supporters, I know how much it means to them that the club does well in any way possible.
We have been very consistent this season and if we can keep it going we definitely have a chance to achieve our goals.
Finally I'd like to say a big thank you to all the supporters who went to our last game in the newcomers challenge, our focus in today's game and the challenge of getting 3 points to take us into first place is hard, but if achieved, it will give us hope in games to come.
Enjoy the game, Dermot.

RED LEADER: Hringhere Briers
Good evening and welcome back here to the Broadfield Stadium for tonight's game against Winchester Wednesday.

Last time out here we enjoyed a 2-0 win over Poges boy where I actually got man of the match. It was great to see Seaward get another goal and Egbe's finish towards the end was the icing on the cake - you look like you enjoyed the celebrations behind the goal!
It said a lot about the character in spirit within this group that we were able to bounce back from behind in previous games. It is so important that we all stick together and not get ourselves down when things aren't necessarily going well.
Tuesday night games under the lights always feel an extra bit special - and the boys are raring to go.
Enjoy the game and let's hear you.
Hringhere.

The reds bowed out of the NCC in the 2nd round of the NCC after being humbled at The Sidings. It was a brave performance defensively, but the reds failed to register a single shot on target.

Winchester Wednesday; One to watch:
Chinbayar Dashdorj has already found the back of the net 9 times this season, and will attempt to make it into double figures tonight. He scored in their last game, in the 2-1 win over Poges Boy. He will be dangerous and the defense will have to keep their guard.

Retro Reds:
Sølbelch FC 1-1 Crawley Town
Being in Division 5 Group 12 before, it is quite easy on what to expect. In our final season in this division, where we finished 8th, but our opening game was brilliant, as Crawley came from behind to draw 1-1 with eventual 2nd placed side Sølbelch FC (Strong Vikings). It was Markos Tuegel who got an equaliser in the 55th minute, which secured a vital away point.
