Final Whistle

Promotion to Ligue 1 and first win!

Written 1 June 2020, 11:13

The day before season's end, in an unexpected turn of events we managed to find ourselves on the second place in the Second Division. With 3 matches remaining, with 2 of them against first and second place contenders, the decision was made to play the games fairly and not field the B squad in order to avoid promotion. Having won 2 out of the last 3 games, only losing against what would prove to be the leaders of the group in a highly dramatic season's end, denying a better team promotion felt kind of good. We'll take this opportunity to smell the air in the first division but with little hopes of remaining here this season. There is little benefit for this promotion as our current stadium is optimised for 2nd division returns and with an aging team the investment in a bigger stadium are not justified at the moment, while we still are limited in training due to our PTF which needs improving for a quite obscene amount of money. We're 20% there and keeping the hope that we'll get to upgrade to WCTF after quite a few more seasons, this is why there are no funds at the moment to invest in the squad or in the stadium. All the cash will be invested in players to trade or train for proffit to get us faster to the WCTF.
Objectives for the current season were to get the bonus for promoting in Ligue 1 and try and not get the last place. Unfortunately we didn't apply for sponsorship so at least 250k were lost due to manager's negligence and a warning was issued by the Board to never let this happen again.

The season started with a dominant while unexpected win, 2-0 against a quite better team :

Next game was a surprisingly close match lost 3-2.

Should we avoid relegation we'll look into possible optimisations, depending on how trading goes this season.
Hopes aren't high as current squad is quite old but we've seen 'miracles' from time to time, so anything is possible.

This is a memorable season for our team being the first promotion to a first division in the club's history and will not be soon forgotten. It took as 13 months to get her, looking forward to what future will bring.

Long live Viitorul (translated as Future in english)!

Thank you, but not sure I will last in 1st without significant investments and without a stadium to profit from there's no point in hanging on... hopefully some investments will pay off I've spent a few M on youths, and at least one was a terrible investment but hopefully the others will compensate.
