Final Whistle

Celebrations all around!!

Written 24 November 2020, 19:50

In what was a surprise news, the team finished the last season on the 1st place, securing promotion to 1st division and the 500k bonus that comes with.

This seems to come at an exceptional moment in time, and it seems the stars are aligned for our manager since it's also his birthday. To we celebrate it in style the Board has approved an additional 20M expansion of the stadium:

The work started on the South and West stands (Level 4), to be upgraded to Level 5 for an additional 15800 seats (10200 West + 5600 South) , bringing the total to 54700 seats.
The team had a break from matches for over 24 hours so the upgrade can be completed without loosing any income. Hopefully at least 1M additional revenue will be generated this season alone getting us close to 5M stadium income per season.

We're currently 15M short of completing the level 5 stadium which we estimate will be complete by the end of the year.
Focus will be however in strengthening he team to allow promotion to 1st division and a ranking in the first 225-240 teams to allow access to the Virtual Manager World Cup. This season was just the second time and we lost (0-1) in the last minute:

Speaking of Cups, we were unlucky in the French draws, pitting us against team ranked #46 in the world and we lost (0-1): https://www.virtualmanager.com/new_matches/80729659/summary . This is a big financial upset as we were counting on 2 home matches. Luckily the WC match was at home, and even if the stadium upgrade was not in place, we're testing the waters and finding our place.

With the current squad we're not hopeful of remaining in the current division so in the event of another player sale we might invest a bit and strengthen the midfield or the defense.
Since the last press release we have parted ways with the following players:

- 30yo(soon to be 31) 70 rated MO Cobus Hulse ( https://www.virtualmanager.com/players/13553986-cobus-hulse ), brought in for 3M three months and a half ago, sold after getting a 3-4 days injury and being close to aging to 31 yo. It was the good time for both the club and the player to find other options. Normally the plan was for him to have spent another 2 months with the club and would have been sold for around 1M. But with the injury, his aging and the promotion to 1st division together with the extra cash we had to bring in a better replacement(which we now don't have anymore) the Board concluded that time has come.

- 17yo 23 rated DC Kalyna Marchenko ( https://www.virtualmanager.com/players/14297682-kalyna-marchenko ), bought for only 250k left the club for the sum of 2M, we wish him well.
- 16yo 11/12 rated FR Jens Poulsen ( https://www.virtualmanager.com/players/14399063-jens-poulsen ). A promising talent, he was bought for 2.9M and sold for 7.8M. We were not prepared to sell him at such a young age but the transfer amount made us reconsider. Money was well invested in upgrading the Southern Stands smiley

After this expensive but well deserved present, our CEO had to bring cash from home to pay team bonuses, with only 92,522 Credits remaining in the club's accounts.

Happy Birthday !!!
