Final Whistle

A season to remember

Written 14 February 2021, 15:18

Wow, what a season it has been!!
Started with strong performance seeing us in top 3 for quite a long streak then dropping a few places then again reaching 3rd place until the last day where we didn't manage even a point (had a red card and a suspended DL for the remaining matches) so eventually we dropped to 6th place.

Financial statements also look decent with a plus of 5,3M, first time after a long time when Transfers in and out are balanced with a small positive gain from selling under the paid price for a 15(16?)yo defender to make space for youth and starting the renewal of the team further with some players reaching close to their target sell date, others already having lined up substitutes that will soon swap places and be ready for a new challenge at other clubs.

Team value also sees us with an increased value of about 7M, going from 266 to 273M so in all an aggregated increase of around 12 M despite losing close to 2,9M from sale of 25(26now) DR rated 68: https://www.virtualmanager.com/players/13974865-solomon-tortladze

Another feature achieved during the season was the fact that we had 10 class player in the first eleven, all except the Central Midfielder, but one of them was sold(Gk). We expect to reach again the level by the end of the week, if not surpass it. It would be a great feat if we achieve for the first time an 11 full of Class Players, that we can work to improve up to Star Players?

On the transfers front, we got an offer too good to refuse on our 31yo senior keeper https://www.virtualmanager.com/players/13669253-andreas-koutsoumpou and we decided time has come for him to continue at another club while a replacement for him was quickly found in the 77rated(78now already) 28yo(29 now smiley ) https://www.virtualmanager.com/players/13812521-antshel-ish-monash brought in for 4,4M and expecting to reach great rating in the high 80s low 90s even, with great physical stats but a bit lower passing, and training exclusively on Keeper main stats.
His first season was remarkable with an average rating of 8, and 5 man of the match.

Another player brought in was 87 rated FL https://www.virtualmanager.com/players/13732131-narciso-albo
who at 30yo is a bit on the old side but was also instrumental in the last part of the season, winning at least 2 matches by himself scoring 2 goals in each match. Brought in for just under 5M he's expected to reach 90+ rating despite his age, having quite a lot of room for improvement in his main skills and high physicals also.
This last season we've also adjusted the training for youths to give them an edge when reaching the senior team as the balanced approach is considered to have gone for too long and they'll now be closer to 70 rating at 24yo than to 60, with the DL https://www.virtualmanager.com/players/14101416-joy-shan-ng promoting at 63 rating and being quite far from the standards so an intermediary replacement for current seniora aged 31yo and rated 80 is expected during this season or the next, and potentially same thing for the DR place but there we have a promising youth that just reached 70 rating and current DR of 80 rating at 31 might yet play a role as intermediary if a suitor with better stats at a younger age is not found, allowing few more weeks for https://www.virtualmanager.com/players/13980342-jose-manuel-borroto to reach in high 70's and get 90+ defending and just under 90 in speed an under 80 in Acceleration.

On Sunday I've received an interesting message to swap leagues, so the proposal was agreed on by the Board, seeing us playing in SuperLig in Turkey and getting the bonus for playing in a new league.
We're considering doing this in the future for getting a bit more additional income to boost our revenues and allow for quicker player replacement and improvement, while also allowing for some cash to be set aside for infrastructure improvements.
Due to positive cash flow and a good return last season, the Board approved the plans for stadium improvements, in a first stage for the North-West stand(+3100 spectators capacity), and in the future the South-Est one will be high on the priorities list.
We just need a bit more time before completing the LVL5 stadium and planning for the first LVL6 stands upgrade, which will probably take another month or so depending on player sales.
