Lokomotive Bryggen

2019-51: Regression all over

Written 23 December 2019, 15:24

Season 2019-51 was a rather dissapointing one for Lokomotive Bryggen. The club was placed in the bottom half of the Bundesliga throughout the season and finished in 9th place, which is the worst result in six seasons. There was no success in the DFB-Pokal either as Bryggen left the tournament in the round of 32 at the hands of Turgon.

Chilean left winger Benavides was suddenly sold mid-sesason, when Bryggen got an offer they couldn't refuse (6.95M). That meant that Slovak Samuel Hlinka had to take over earlier than planned. Hlinka scored 13 goals in 21 matches, so he seems to be ready for the job.

Erlendur Annfinsson of the Faroe Islands was bought for 6.1M to replace Israeli Ephraim Weil (122 goals in 310 games) in the center of the attack.

Financially, Bryggen made 3.2M in season 2019-51 which cannot be described in other words than 'disaster'
