Lokomotive Bryggen

2020-04: Record sale

Written 27 January 2020, 11:19

Promotion to the Superliga did not prove too difficult for Lokomotive Bryggen in the 2020-04 season. The team finished with 75 points – 22 points clear of third place. For the second season in a row, the team reached the quarterfinals of Landspokalturneringen so overall the season was a great success.

After the season had ended, a rather surprising move took place. 28 years old Icelandic midfielder Thordur Helgason was sold to the Swedish Allsvenskan for 16M which is a new Lokomovtive Bryggen record. We asked Hong Kong-based club owner Ai-Pwn Yu about the deal: “Well, when we buy players we expect to keep them until they are about 31 years old. But todays football is a business and we simply got an offer, we couldn’t refuse. We were able to book a profit of 2M on Thordur and although he will be missed, we cannot say no to that kind of money”

Following the sale, Bryggen went to Serie A in Italy and bought 28 years old Dane Ejnar Kuhlmann (pronounced 'Cool man' ) to replace Helgason. Kuhlmann is not quite as good a player as Helgason but he only set the club back 9M, so we believe that Head Treasurer Enid Ford A’Kash is rather pleased. The sale contributed to a season result of +7.9M

We wish Bryggen the very best of luck in the Superliga.
