2020-28: Youth Academy update

Written 13 July 2020, 12:12

As season 2020-28 was rather uneventfull on the pitch - ending in another league 4th place and a cup exit in the quaterfinals - we found time to get an update on Bryggen's Youth Academy from German Head Coach Sepp Piontek: "Aber, unsere Academy has now run for 14 seasons, so it is immer noch early days. We are very zufrieden, however. Our young players develop as we were hoping. Results are really not important, but the team started out in the bottom of the 6th division, and now they are around average in the 5th. Our biggest hofnungen is warschneinlich on Esbjørn Svensson. He has just turned 18, and Ich bin sicher that he will be a big star one day. He is valued at 37.8 millionen Deutschmark"

In the post season, we saw two changes to the starting 11. 29 year old Welshman Amren Geonor (10.8M) took over the goalkeeping from Swede Håkan Sartell (537 matches), whereas 27 year old Canadian Braedon Moores (19.1M) replaced Iranian Al-Nawas (4 goals in 324 appearences) at right midfield.

The sales of Sartell and Al-Nawas brought big losses to the bottom line, as the season's result came out at -3.5M.
That was the 4th red financial result in the last six seasons, so we had a little chat with Head Treasurer Enid Ford A'Kash about that: "Well, as we purchase better and better players, the loss we have to take when we skip them off around age 31 grow larger and larger. At the moment we can still make it work, but we are not accumulating any profits. You have to speak to owner Ai-Pwn Yu if you want to ask about the long term plans". Unfortunately Mr. Yu was not available for comments, but we hope to be able to tell you more on the matter in next season's presser.
