2020-31: Kournikova joins Bryggen

Written 3 August 2020, 11:25

A rather unimpressive 10th place finish was the outcome of season 2020-31 for Lokomotive Bryggen. The club's cup campaign once again ended in the semifinals - this time at the hands of FC Niederpleis.

In the very start of the season, Belgian team captain for the last 10 seasons Tim van Pyumbrouck (384 matches) was sold (loss of 6.3M). Van Pyumbrouck was replaced by Hungarian Bethlem Rudzio (7.5M). Cascavel took over as team captain.

However, Rudzio didn't get to play more than 34 games in the yellow jersey. In the offseason he was sold for 8.5M and replaced by Vassilyl Kournikova from Russia (13.9M). Vassilyl is a distant cousin to former tennis babe Anna Kournikova, but that doesn't explain why he has a female last name.

The financial statement showed a plus of 11.0M despite the big loss on van Pyumbrouck.
