Lokomotive Bryggen

2020-34: Meisterschale number two!

Written 24 August 2020, 11:37

Season 2020-34 started off in an incredible pace for Lokomotive Bryggen. Including cup games, Bryggen only lost one of its first 28 fixtures! Bryggen led the Bundesliga most of the way with German champions the last seven seasons, Valencia, right behind

Four games before season end, Danish left striker Morten Ovesen (63 goals in 108 games) was suddenly sold to Orlando Pirates for 11M. Allthough that was a good price and booked a profit of 1M, we find that decision extremely strange. Bryggen immediately brought in 27 year old Portuguese Lino Constantino from FC det ved jeg ikk for 20M, but Lino obviuosly had no time to get aquainted with the team. At that point, Bryggen led the league with a single point over Valencia and lost the next game to FC SuperHumle. That could easily have lost Bryggen the championship, but lucikly the roof fell down for Valencia, which only scored seven points in its last five matches. So in the end, team captain Cascavel could lift the Meisterschale for the second time in team history!

These players were responsible for bringing the title to Bryggen Arena:

Goalkeeper
Amren Geonor, Wales

Defenders
Eulogio Cascaval, Portugal (Captain)
Ivan Vetvik, Norway
Vassilyl Kournikova, Russia
Bernard Fleury, France (Substitute on the 2020-21 champions team)

Midfield
Jack Wilshere, England
Knut Lervig, Faroe Islands
Zdenko Hecl, Slovakia

Strikers
Ferdinand Schindler, Czech Republic
Kensaku Ota, Japan
Morten Ovesen, Danmark

Substitutes
GK Mariano Calvo, Chile
DL Gavrel Narozhylenko, Russia
DC Yamahiko Onozaki, Japan
FL Lino Constantino, Portugal

After the last match of the season, Bernard Fleury celebrated his 500th game for Lokomotive Bryggen. Fleury is the youngest player in team history to achieve that.

The financial statement showed a plus of 11.6M.

The owner of Valencia apparently got so upset about not winning the 8th consecutive title, that he choose to flee to Italy with his team. However, Atlanta Hawks, Italian champions the last 16(!) seasons, took Valencias place, so the Bundesliga only got tougher. A repeat from Bryggen would be a big surprise, but we do think that medals should be within reach.
