Throwing A Spanner In The Works

The Division 6 title race took a noticeable hit today as the Red Sky Ravens came out on top over Century Football Club. The game was hard fought as the Ravens raced to 3 goal lead before half time but took their foot off the gas in the second half to allow CFC to pull 2 back before holding out for the victory. It marks the first defeat of the season for either of the title chasing teams who hold an 8 point advantage over the chasing pack. It also represents a significant boost for the Ravens as they deny CFC the double over them whilst also contributing 4 of the 6 goals conceded by the title chasing side. At the time of the game they were the only side to have broken the defence but they appeared to still be suffering from the defeat on their visit to Kelly Brooks GString where they conceded twice more but came out eventual 3-2 victors.

The result puts the Ravens in 5th place with just a single point separating them from 4th placed Pattesutter. Bolton Wandering may not have 3rd place as secure as they would like with just a 4 point advantage and away games at 3 of the other top 5 teams still to play (alongside a home game against Pattesutter). The Ravens host 2 of the 3 teams above them and travel to Pattesutter for their final game of the season and judging by their strength of attack it could well be a decisive game for the sides.

Overall this season the two front men have contributed 34 goals however it is the now absent Azuolas Juknius that has fans most concerned as he abandoned ship mid season with 17 games and 14 goals to his name. His replacement, Santiago De Souza, has managed 2 assists in his first 2 games and looks to be a solid replacement overall, but he seems to lack the killer finishing that Juknius has.
