Red Sky Ravens 0-3 WestUnited

Written 29 May 2018, 16:35

The Ravens welcomed Premier League heavyweights WestUnited to the Raven stadium for an FA Cup 2nd Round fixture. WestUnited were off to an underwhelming start in their first Premier League season, shipping 14 goals in their first 7 games. The Ravens meanwhile, some 5 divisions below them, were off to a flying start with 30 goals in 6 games. That being said, the gulf in class between the two squads made the visitors undeniable favourites.

The Ravens lined up with their recently favoured 3-5-2 formation whilst the visitors took a more aggressive 3-4-3. The match never looked to be in any doubt and the Ravens found themselves 2 goals down at half time, conceding to Chiang and Chong. Chong's stellar performance also bagged him a second goal late in the game to add some gloss to a comfortable victory.

Fergus Shepherd impressed from his lone centre back role, taking home the Raven's own player of the game award on his 75th appearance. Despite this the Ravens will look back on an unfortunate cup draw and hope to do better than the 2nd Round next season after being knocked out of the Newcomers Challenge in the 1st Round and suffering a heavy home defeat prior to the FA Cup game.
