Diament Garwolin

BUNDESLIGA CLUB ON ITS KNEES!!!

Written 23 November 2011, 11:02

Diament Garwolin have pulled off an astonishing feat, in what is already being labelled by some as the biggest shock ever seen in Virtual Manager! Our local, Division 5 “average Joes” have eliminated a club from the BUNDESLIGA in the first round of DFB-Pokal!!!

Lord Radz approached the game in a relaxed fashion, expecting a heavy hammering from the FC Bold side, currently ranked 110th by VIFA and boasting many class and world class players, including those who play for their national teams (namely Eyvindur Ferja of the Faroe Islands, and Jimmy Engels of Belgium)!
However, little did he know that his bunch of players were about to deliver what is no doubt the most famous victory in our club’s history!!!
At first, it all seemed to go according to plan for the favoured hosts. They delivered wave after wave of well-organised, flowing attacks on the goal of Lucjan Sierakowski.
The Diamonds’ goalkeeper had his hands full from the first minutes, pulling off incredible stops from the likes of Joe Clareu, Oscar Palermo and Ebadullah Radji to keep us in the game!
The rest of the team weren’t resting either, fiercely competing for possession to try and reduce the amount of FC Bold’s chances. Things looked particularly dangerous when Truls Granli missed by inches early into extra-time, but lady luck favoured the underdogs! Granli then had another effort from 14 yards on 100 minutes, but the inspired Sierakowski showed fantastic athleticism once again to deny him!
Finally, the exhausted Diament Garwolin heard the final whistle, and it was time for penalties.
Sierakowski made no mistake from the first spot-kick, and then pulled off another outstanding save from Palermo’s penalty. However, with Borain and Kondrashov both missing their penalties, it was hard to see any way past FC Bold. But in a dramatic turn of events, Clareu, Granli and Biasci all crumbled under pressure and missed from the spot!
With the tension in the stadium at an all-time high, Baldwin Tiolier stepped up for what would be the winning penalty. And as the ball flew into the net, there was a deafening silence from over 64,000 home fans, which was broken almost immediately by jubilant screams from the 500 or so Diament supporters!!!

It was done: a struggling, mediocre Division 5 club had defeated the giants on their home turf! The team carried the god-like Sierakowski on their shoulders, while the Diamonds’ fans chanted “There’s only one Lucjan Sierakowski!”

We managed to grab brief interviews with some of our players:

Lucjan Sierakowski, the hero:

“I’m speechless... it hasn’t sunk in yet... I tried my best to deny their strikers but in all fairness, they missed their chances... It’s amazing that we managed to pull it off, I think the whole team deserves a great deal of praise”

Baldwin Tiolier, scorer of the winning penalty:

“Lucjan waz absolutely amazing today, he did all the ‘ard work to stop FC Bold scoring. All I ‘ad to do was put the ball in ze back of ze net from ze spot. Yes, zere waz a lot of pressure, but I tried not to sink about it and just concentrate on blasting the ball into ze goal”

After the game, some fans were spotted running naked down the streets of Garwolin, and countless bottles of champaigne were drunk around town to celebrate this magnificent achievement!

The game was the perfect send-off for Hermelando Luenga and Jekaterina Kondrashov, who have both decided to retire very soon.

Lord Radz was also congratulated by managers around the globe, such as Sildegapet FC’s Britton, Marcus Balogun of FC Youngers and Moody Bow’s Moody Bow!

COOOOOMMEEEEEE OOOOOOONNNN YOOOOOUUUUU DIAMONDZZZZZZZZ!!!!
