Today we celebrate the retirement of a club legend. Our former goalkeeper has decided to hang up the gloves for good and delve into the world of coaching.
Over the course of his career, Altavista has played for 4 teams since being discovered by NUFC Magpies in April of 2016. His longest tenure was on Flubber Dubber FC where he played 490 matches and tallying 68 man of the match awards.
Altavista was purchased by Nevada Wolfpack on August 13th, 2017 at the age of 31 years old. He was mainly recruited to be the teams starting goalkeeper and team captain, and served his time well on the Wolfpack. He appeared in 259 games and recorded 52 man of the match awards and made numerous game saving deflections and blocks to help carry Nevada Wolfpack to its highest ever finish in the US 4th division.
Hugo's maturity, leadership and dedication to the team will be sincerely missed and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
The former B-team goalkeeper, Roman Scale, will step up to the plate and replace Altavista in the starting 11. "He has been performing well as of late in the matches we start him in for experience. I believe his training and experience is sufficient to become the starting keeper for the Wolfpack," states manager Kkoma, "he definitely has some more learning and growing to do in order to become the keeper we need, but I am confident that in due time he will be leading the squad." Scale is 20 years old and hails from Lethbridge, Canada.
The Nevada Wolfpack will be looking to pick up the 2-0 head to head record vs. FC Jalyma at Sam Boyd Stadium on Oct. 26th at 21:50, and also face Team Breezy at 17:25 today in Tappahannock, VA.
