staying up!

Written 16 October 2011, 17:57

With one hour left of the season, Relegation looked very likely for Ben Wilks Wanderers. They needed a win to stay up with one game remaining. To make this task a whole lot harder, it was against already crowned Division 6 Group 32 Runaway Champions Stannington Cardinals. Before the match Manager Ben Wilks said "It's looking unlikely that we will stay up, but we will try our hardest and urge the fans to back our boys before they head out for the final game of the season". In the game itself the Wanderers grabbed a late goal in the 84th Minute, thanks to Asom Arslan, to stay up.
Both sides almost equalled the amounts of shots and posession in a well fought game. Ben Wilks at the end commented "Deservedly so Man of the Match goes to Asom Arslan, tonight he dominated the Midfield and grabbed a very important goal. But he has just announced he will retire at the end of next season. I'll be sad to see him go as he is a fantastic player and role model. I'd also like to thank the fans and my Goalkeeper, who made incredible saves today keeping us in the game."

Another vital factor to their Survival was the signing of Central Midfielders and Defenders.
