Sildegapet claim first win

Written 16 May 2012, 18:41

Sildegapet have claimed their first win of the campaign and in doing so have drawn themselves off the bottom of the table by four points. Den gyldne tæve are also towards the bottom of the table although currently above the whites by 10 points. However, the whites still thwarted their attempts to climb into the top eight.

Adegoke Moneke was in good form again as he saved fantastically down to his right after Hamid Baraheri missed what should have been an easy chance. The Iranian had another glorious chance saved just seconds later as the ball defelcted off several defenders and fell to him perfectly but he was unable to capitalise. Dutch Forward Ingemann Dich had yet another chance but it was pushed to the other side of the upright. Then came the moment that was never expected; Sildegapet managed to cross the halfway line and Maccarron was played through on target. However, several challenges halted his progress but his ability to pick out Are Kristoffersen on the edge of the penalty box with a perfectly weighted through ball allowed Kristoffersen to slot home only his second goal for the whites. The remainder of the first half and second half was all from the home side but however many times they hit the post, they were thwarted by Moneke.

Josef Kiestra had a late chance to double the lead but his shot hit the cross bar. At the very end of the game, there was a very controversial moment when Hamid Baraheri beat Moneke only to see his effort hit the cross bar. However, the ball then rebounded of Moneke and towards the line. The Nigerian keeper however, seemed to hook it back before it rolled over the line but video evidence was inconclusive.

Chowdhury was very pleased with the result.
