Altrincham Town FC hosted Spion Kop FC in the second match of the Bernese Oberland Cup and they played out an dull 0-0 draw. Altrincham Town FC had the better of the opening exchanges but failed give themselves the lead before Spion Kop responded in similar fashion.

The first chance of the afternoon fell to Altrincham Town FC as Eyvindur Kjærbæk dribbled half way down the pitch before unleashing a fierce shot that caught Knud Bast out in surprise. However, the ball unfortunately struck the top of the cross bar and left it shaking for several minutes. Stu Partridge was the next to try his luck but his shot could only find the side netting. His low drive was covered by Bast as well and from his angle it was doubtful as to whether a shot was the best option. The best chance of the first half ultimately fell to Spion Kop when Bent Jensen flicked on a long goal kick which landed for Volody Lockimo who really should have scored. However, his shot was blocked out by a great save from Lawrence McWhirter.

After the break, Bardan Peedell created a chance for himself but his long range effort was always heading wide and Bast did not look troubled. Koudo Kobari a few minutes later probable had an even better chance as a corner from the left was not cleared properly and fell to him. However, his shot at a goal just six yards away and fully open was around a yard wide of the upright causing disbelief throughout the Spion Kop side. After the hour mark, both sides were afraid of being hit on the break and were reticent of pushing men forward. Both sides were restricted long shots that failed to trouble either keeper enough to warrant a goal.

Both sides were clearly cautious and tried to win by a single goal. They did not create a lot of chances and seemed tired. Both sides will hope that this point will give them the basis of a cup run that sees them progress out of the group stages. However, many cannot see either side reach the sharp end of the tournament with that sort of a match.
