Sildegapet FC started their third consecutive Bernese Oberland Cup with a comprehensive win over Auction Finished. A hattrick from Gordon Manson within the first half hour and another hattrick for Josef Kiestra did no harm for the Cottagers chances of qualifying for the semi finals. With Bolton Wanderers the other must win game for the whites, they have completed the first part of their mission.

It took barely four minutes for the whites to take a lead in the match when Josef Kiestra tried to round the keeper only to be tripped. Kiestra picked himself up and cooly slotted home the resulting penalty. Jean-claude Purtschert who has scored nine goals in 15 matches for the whites in the league, was the next to try his luck but his curling shot grazed the outside of the post and went wide. However, he created the second of Sildegapet’s goals when he set up Gordon Manson in the 18th minute who smashed home emphatically from well outside the box. It was his pivotal role in midfield that allowed the whites so much time and space in midfield. However, he certainly carried an attacking threat as well. Barely three minutes after his first incredible goa, Gordon Manson scored his second with a stunning long range effort that was unstoppable. In the 25th minute, he showed why Chowdhury was willing to part with 575,000 Credits to bring him to the Cottage as he picked up on a loose corner at the back post and rifled in a spectacular goal for his hattrick. It took just six minutes for all three of his goals in the quickest hattrick any Sildegapet player has ever score. Josef Kiestra showed just before half time that he should never be left out of an equation when his free kick was angled perfectly into the top right hand corner. Josef Kiestra however, should have scored another just moments later as he missed a free header from less than six yards out, although a great save from Esdras Castellanos was partly responsible. Valente also had a shot well saved before the break as Sildegapet went into the break 5-0 up.

Gutierre Valente made up for his mistake immediately after half time as he broke the offside trap and once again Jean Claude-Purtschert played a beautifully weighted through ball that Valente could not not score with. Valente had another shot saved just minutes later but the rebound fell to Kiestra who finally got his hattrick. After the seventh goal, Chowdhury made several substitutions to give younger team members a chance to play for the club.

Sildegapet will be really happy with the result. It was a dominant performance and highlights why they are top of their league. They should qualify from this group now but will certainly face a hard task beating Cheesy Devils who are a team to be admired. The final may be out of reach for the whites, but reclaiming their third place trophy should be possible.
