Sildegapet push for third

Written 18 May 2013, 12:20

With the two promotion places almost certainly decided, the last spot up for grabs is third, and the whites have put themselves back in the picture with two thrilling results. Having lost Schmolzer earlier in the season after a club unexpectedly triggered his release clause, the whites have been fighting to maintain a top five position. However, a brace of goals from top scorer Imfeld made sure that third placed Fedtsugerne had no response to the late charge posted by the whites. Meanwhile, their next match against Torvik IF was seen as less of a challenge. However the away side took the lead twice within the first thirty five minutes, only for Imfeld to increase his goal tally for this season by two, scoring twice within five minutes of Torvik scoring to peg them back to 2-2. After half time, the goals may have subsided with both sides having chances to take the lead, being denied by the woodwork and goal line clearances. The game was to be decided by a wonderstrike,Reto Arnold, the young and up and coming midfielder showing his pedigree.

Arnold intercepted a loose pass and, having controlled the ball from just inside the opposition half, proceeded to lash his shot powerfully beyond the keeper and into the goal.

Sildegapet remained in third, but have a relatively easy run in compared to third place Fedtsugerne who face both first and second in their final two matches of the season. With only six points separating third and sixth, it is still all to play for.
