Open Interview With The Manager

Written 14 December 2012, 20:57

How Do You Get Money, Excepting The League Prizes, Gate Receipts, And Player Flipping?

Well, this nearly covers nearly every source of income for most clubs. Most of Dynamo's funds comes from Gate Receipts, and sales of older players. Currently, as part of my project, I am trying to make sure I have a youngster to develop, to replace a first team player when he gets to around 30, and then I can sell that older player to give my income a boost. Of course, this means that it takes a long time to raise larger sums, but, my club is more financially stable since I started moving the club in this direction. Of course, on some occasions, I do spot an oppurtunity to shift a player on quickly, and make a small profit, to the benefit of the club, but this is rarely the case, as I usually have eleven first team players, and then the corresponding eleven youths behind them.

There Are Some Of Dynamo Groby's Rivals Who Would Say You Have The Hoodoo Over Them. Will They Ever Win?

Yes, of course. There's no secret to it, we've had a run against some teams, stretching back quite far, especially with some of our very competitive and friendly rivals. Sildegapet F.C. and Samba Beat are the two main ones, though there are a few others that get regular games to renew competition with us. At the moment, the club is going through a strong patch, and the team is developing well, and so it is understandable that we're doing well. There will come a time, when Samba and Sildegapet both rise to a level where they will be stronger than us. It's a motivation for my club to continue working hard, and to progress and develop, so that we can continue to enjoy a good record in these friendly rivalries.

The Christmas Party is Cancelled! Why?

That was a strange one. We had a batch of mince pies and sausage rolls sent to the club from a catering company last month, for testing before the big knees up. Upon attaining they were so far past the edible by date they would have walked off on their own accord, the players also discovered that a well thrown mince pie could bruise rather well, and put holes in windows. Due to a couple of player injuries as a result of those hijinks, and the damage to the club property, including the fish tank in the corporate area, we took the decision to cancel the Christmas bash until we could arrange matters for a more suitable event to celebrate the players achievements this year. I'm not over fond of this Christmas malarkey myself, but the players and club staff all take benefit from the morale boost and good feeling around the club the event creates, involving all members from the tea lady up to the top level players, and fans too, of course.
You'll all be pleased to note, Barry the Goldfish has since been rehomed in a new tank.

Do You Really Believe Your Dynamo Groby Side Can Reach The Top Under The Current Management Of The Club?

Do you lot seriously believe we won't? There is no reason the Dynamo Groby Finnish project cannot reach the higher levels at all. Give the youngsters time to come good, and they'll see us right. We might not win the top leagues, but we'll go further and higher than we ever have before, and surely, that can be considered a full success.

Some People Would Say You're A Shoe-In For The Finland Job, When The International Position Becomes Vacant. What Do You Think?

It's an interesting thought. But whilst I would certainly display interest in such a high profile role, working with the best, I suspect there will be a list of managers interested in the vacant position, some of whom will likely be able to boast some impressive records and previous achievements. Certainly, I'd believe that even with my Finnish experiences at club level, there may be managers more likely to be selected for the high level post of Finland Manager. However, if offered the position, I would jump at the chance of managing on the international stage, and would give it the best shot I possibly could.

Non VM Related Questions

Dogs Athletico took the PbPD title last season, breaking the league scoring record on the way. Can they retain their title?

This will be very difficult, I feel. They have an attacking force that is the envy of almost all the league, but with how the division has narrowed from 20 teams to 16, the games where the Athletico pile on the goal difference will perhaps be fewer and further between. Make no mistake, they are a fantastic side, and their home form is truly brilliant, but there are some other very good sides in it, who will no doubt suggest that they should be winning the league. The top seven or eight are very tough to actually split on paper, so it promises to be another exciting season.

Which team do you follow in the Premiership?

Stoke City. Love the way they're set up at the minute, and how they just don't give a monkeys about those who criticise their style. My opinion of it is, that even so called ugly football is still football, and teams that can play ugly football well, deserve as much recognition as those that play the apparently prettier, purer stuff well too. That said, Stoke can actually move the ball about pretty well, if anyone cares to pay attention.

Penalties. Power or Placement?

I always place mine, but you still need enough power to make it difficult to save.

What do you like to do away from Vm?

Well, other than working, and the obvious VM and PbPD commitments, I like to read, and write. I also play video games (Who doesn't?). I play Fifa 11 a lot. Among other things. I like Mario Kart, Bomberman and Kirby Air Ride too. Outdoorsy stuff, I like to play football, and golf, and I enjoy being at the seaside a lot. It is soothing listening to, and watching, the sea.

Nothing wrong with the Potters. Gotta love their style. Or wilful lack of it, perhaps.
