A Legend In The Making

Written 8 October 2013, 20:54

Following in the footsteps of Taavi Litmanen, the first Dynamo discovered Finn to make the side, we have another keeper from the Dynamo youth project making his way through the ranks to take over from the current first team stopper.

Uuno Salmelainen is following in Litmanen's footsteps, and trying to emulate his success, by making the U17 national squad, and now the U21 national squad, despite being only 19. Though this perhaps doesn't bode quite so well for the strength of the future Finnish national side in the goalkeeping department, Dynamo Groby can be very proud of the achievement of another of their Finnish academy products. If Salmelainen goes on to be as successful as Litmanen, then the Vale Park club will be in good hands for a while yet.

He is a very very good player....international squad. Would that be a first senior member of the squad homegrown?

I've not had one in the Senior International Squad yet. There's a few in between that might make it, though, so we shall see.
