The Record Stands

Written 7 May 2014, 20:06

Club legend and goalkeeper Taavi Litmanen, pulled his gloves on for the final time today to keep goal for Dynamo. The long term stopper, who came through the Dynamo youth project, has represented his country at all levels, and captained the Vale Park side for a long time, and will be a much missed figure around the club. In playing here for so long, Litmanen has broken the club appearance record, previously held by Yrjo Paakkonen, and set a new benchmark of 2,885 appearances for Dynamo Groby. A remarkable achievement, and one that will no doubt stand for a lengthy period of time before it is in any danger of being surpassed.

wow.....he is one of a select few unless he played upfront for a game when he was younger due to an injury

Well, he actually played a couple up front in the cup right towards the end of his career. I was hoping the fellow would get a goal for his record sheet. Salmalainen is decent enough back up, and got some games in goal in preparation for taking over from Taavi.
