Awards Season

Written 19 December 2021, 07:55

It's that time of year again. The VM awards roll around!

Whilst we at Dynamo Groby are unlikely to be involved in any of the officially listed categories, we can at least look back at several of our achievements in 2021.

Finns On Tour -- At the start of 2021 we took our Finnish side on a short tour of countries, starting from England, and involving stays in Greece, Turkey, Denmark and the USA before returning to our home in England. Dynamo Groby are proud to have played in the top division in all of the countries we visited in 2021.

You CAN Win Something With Kids -- 2021 involved the continuation of our Finnish youth program at Dynamo, and early in the year we were rewarded with an U23 FA Cup win. Whilst on tour our youth set up also made it to the top division in some of the countries.

International Dreams -- Dynamo Groby continue to produce and supply players for all stages of the Finnish international side, and of course, we aim to continue to do so.

Up for the Cups -- We are very proud of our achievements at Vale Park in 2021, we reached the Cup Final in each of the countries we visited whilst on tour, and have won the Cup in Greece, USA and notably Denmark. Whilst we still await our first top division title, these Cup wins show that our Finns can match anyone on their day, and we'll continue to build and work towards winning a top flight title at some point.

We want to recognise the hard work of the players and staff of Dynamo Groby for these achievements, and know that they will continue to do the very best they can for the club. We'd also like to thank our supporters, following us through thick and thin and we dedicate our cup wins to those who have followed and supported our Finnish project. Finally (or should that be 'Finn-ally'?) the club would like to issue a plea to VM to dedicate an award to the 'Best Finnish Club' on the basis we would have a chance of being nominated for this award, and maybe even have a tilt at winning it! Seriously though, where IS the award for best one nation team VM? Surely worth a shout.

All the best to all,
Russell
