My initial aim in this game was: to reach English Premier League.
On 19:5:13 I sidelined that idea having reached Div 3, & transferred to the Scottish League for a go at their Premeirship first. - I got there on 080913 smiley
I returned to England to continue the journey 160214 - and achieved my aim on 020314.
I'm now trying to stay within the top #50 teams and challenge for League & Cup honours.

3. Automatic contract extensions
In future it will extend the contracts of players who have less than 30 hours left of their contract, as opposed to 25 hours before. This gives us a safety margin of few extra hours to intervene if this update ever fails.

FLIPPIN ADVICE:

If you're brand new to the game - my advice is to replace the starting squad you were given as soon as you can by buying better players from the auction list for as little as possible. - Ignore the "Free Transfers" as they're not!.
At the time of writing it is still reasonably easy to get together a team of older players (30yrs onwards) for a few credits each.
Having bought these players - who will go straight into your team - and quickly make it better than the other teams in your Division - you can try to sell the youngsters you had - 1C each on auction - or just release them if they don't sell quickly.
The older players you've just bought can either go back on the auction list - at anything up to half their value without attracting any "sales tax" (levied at 10% of anything over half value) - or probably more appropriately to start with - on the Transfer List (T/L) - for any amount you like. Check the current T/L to compare similar players - age/value/stats. - and try to list your guy as the cheapest - so that the next manager looking for such a player will buy him instead of someone else.
- The reason I say go for the older players is that the younger ones have a larger proportion of their value allocated to their "future potential" - and with a tiny Training Ground - which you will have (Lawn) to start with - their "future potential" is almost nothing as you'll never be able to train them to anything like their full potential. - Therefore their value will drop considerably if you've purchased them from a club with a bigger Training Facility.
As you manage to progress and purchase ever better players - you might want to get rid of the previous one in that position - If they haven't sold off the T/L - you can either - reduce the price and see if they go - or then put them back on the auction list - at or under half price as per above - hopefully always for more than you paid for them to make a "flip" profit.

The biggest factor in how well you do "flippin", is how long you spend online. The more time you're here - the more "bargains" you'll get off the auction list - and then the more time you'll have to re-list the players you're trying to sell. The best way for a quick sale is to re-list every 15 minutes - for 15 minutes - for however long you're on each day.
Then, just before you leave; re-list them for either - a time period so they finish early morning (between 7 and 9am) if you've been on during the evening - or to finish mid evening as below if you've been on during the day and aren't going to be back on in the evening.
Having said all that; it's not so much "when to sell the players" - they can go at any time of day if the price is right... - it's more about buying them at the right price in the first place. Generally however; there are more managers online between about 7.30-9.30pm Monday to Thursday, and 5pm onwards Sunday evening - giving you a better chance that someone will want your player.
Forget Fridays and Saturdays - it appears folks have better things to do with their time at weekends - smiley

As you get further on in the game you'll find you can't buy players under half price - because too many other managers want the same guys - so they go for more. By this time though you should have gathered a rough idea of the approximate prices players are selling for in each position - and if you're struggling - the best way is still to refer back to the T/L and find the cheapest similar player for a guide as to the value. - Obviously the player on auction should be cheaper than the cheapest on the T/L - otherwise you should consider bidding to the guy off the T/L smiley

So far as which players to buy to flip - as above - anyone is good at the right price.
Trial and error is the only way to find your feet. The same player might make 100k at say 10am - then 300k at 11am. Just depends when the managers who are looking for someone in that position are online. I find that currently DC's MC's MD's & FC's - in that order - are commanding the highest prices relative to their listed values.

But, - the main thing to make money by flipping is to have your players on the auction site - just about to sell - ie with as little time left - as often as possible.
In other words, to make the most money: buy cheap, and re-list every 15 or 30 minutes, at a price that makes you a profit - until they sell smiley

Another tip: - If you want to buy a player - and you want to pay let's say 200k, - don't bid exactly 200k, - bid just over - ie 200,003C - or even 201,003C or whatever. The number of people who bid in round numbers is amazing - and you could win that player over one of them just by adding that few extra Credits when they haven't done so...

Finally, - if you stick to buying players that you would have in your team;
a) you can use them if they don't sell straight away,
b) if you like them (stats wise) other people probably will too.
c) make sure that ALL your players are on either the Transfer List, or the auction list!
If they're not they cannot be making you money. Anyone that does sell, can easily be replaced smiley

There is money to be made out there - so long as you have the time it takes. GL smiley
