I have a player. Mickhael uruzadze or something like that (I’m doing this on my phone not laptop so can’t copy the link).

He’s been averaging over 200 training but his overall rating is only 51. I’ve got other players who don’t train as well as him (Dursee Ayush is one) that have a far better overall rating. Ayush is a striker so I train him on striker training after letting him do overall training for a while. Uruzadze ( or something like that) is a midfielder so I’ve been more general in the training but have sometimes tried to put him on attack or Defense training. His skills stats are almost on a par with the others but overall rating is so much less.

When you put a player on specialist training for their position why does their overall rating seem to go up more than when you put them on general training?

Attackers and defenders are easier to train for ratings is the simple answer and the rating is mainly driven by specific stats that have a certain weight.

They have fewer stats that contribute to their rating, and those stats (like Shooting/Speed/Dribbling for an attacker) are weighted way higher than the others. Midfielders have a lot more stats that contribute, at a lower weight.

The training on your striker has been a lot more "important stat" driven that your midfielder.

Stats and weight below for reference:
Keeper:
Handling 19.23%
In the air 19.23%
Jumping 19.23%
One on one 19.23%
Speed 7.69%
Acceleration 7.69%
Passing 1.92% Stamina
1.92%
Fighting spirit 1.92%
Leadership 1.92%

Defense:
Tackling 40.54%
Speed 16.89%
Acceleration 16.89%
Passing 6.76%
Dribbling 3.38%
Endurance 3.38
% Fighting spirit 3.38%
Set pieces 3.38%
Leadership 3.38%
Finishing 2.03%

Midfield:
Passing 22.58%
Dribbling 19.35 %
Endurance 16.13%
Finishing 12.90%
Speed 9.68%
Fighting Spirit 6.45%
Tackling 3.23%
Acceleration 3.23%
Dead ball situations 3.23%
Leadership 3.23%

Forward:
Finishing 30.03%
Dribbling 24.02%
Speed 15.02%
Acceleration 15.02%
Passing 3%
Fighting spirit 3%
Dead ball situations 3%
Leadership 3%
Endurance 2.4%
Tackling 1.5%

Thanks mate, much as I suspected - so what is the best way to get a Midfielders rating up?

Garden Rovers (Simon James) 29 November 2024, 13:42
Just general training or concentrate on a specific role. For example if its a defensive midfielder do defence training, if its an attacking midfielder do attack training?

All midfielders need the same stats to be targeted for their rating, it doesn't vary by MD or MO for example.

So mainly:
Midfield:
Passing 22.58%
Dribbling 19.35 %
Endurance 16.13%
Finishing 12.90%
Speed 9.68%
Fighting Spirit 6.45%
Tackling 3.23%
Acceleration 3.23%
Dead ball situations 3.23%
Leadership 3.23%

So: Pig in the Middle, Technique Offensive & Defensive training and Interval training are your main ones.

Which perfectly demonstrates why defenders and attackers are easier as you only really need to train them on 2 exercises.

Ok thanks, sorry if I was being a dumb dumb but with the defenders and attackers its just more obvious than with the midfielders so that's good to know.

Nothing dumb about it, until I found out how each positions rating was determined, my training methods were...lets say unique and ineffective smiley
