Noticed some of danish teams have switched to wider formations and as a result seem to be overperforming

I believe there are definitely tactics you can have to give yourself an edge, outside of playing players in their green boxes, the biggest advantage you can have is on the tempo. It’s quite surprising the difference between the available tempos. MotY is simply too much to have on a consistent basis tho, think of it like extreme training. Outside of that, having the appropriate passing style and attacking style for your formation will have the next biggest influence on outcomes. And finally, roles can have a significant impact on the outcomes, more specifically not having them can be extremely detrimental, having the right player on each isn’t necessarily as important but still has its own effect.Linlithgow Rose FC wrote:Have you got any examples? I'd be keen to take a look. I have noticed a few similar formations over the last few weeks but nothing major.
I am always wary to enter the rabbit hole that is tactics, I personally think as long as you have the right number of players in Defence and Midfield its a lottery game by game after that.
Not a whole lot to mess about with honestly, probably set up with offensive mentality, play wide and increased tempo. He doesn’t have a middle, and you don’t have an outside, so it just set up as one of those things where one of the sides got an advantage from it and the other didn’t. Certainly didn’t hurt that it was a home game for them either.Understated Excellence wrote:Can't say I kept note. This is one interesting match were comfortably beat by lower stats team with wider formation

I've been playing around with formation since and got worse though haha
I guess it's finding right mix as pointed out

Ian if you see something like that and it seems to be having a positive effect on the results , then I'd say copy and see for yourself
