Losing to teams >20 ratings lower

I get home advantage is massive in VM, I have had my tactics on short passes or shoot on sight with a neutral/increased mentality and am getting battered 0-3 at home and away by teams who are considerably lower rated than mine. Am I doing something wrong ? I sound proper salty (which I kinda am 🤣) but how do I go about changing this ? If anyone knows help would be much appreciated 🙏

Sometimes you're just unlucky mate, I've had my worst start to a season for a long while and feel as I've lost games I should be winning also, defo worth tweaking things instructions and formation wise if your season is already over as such, see what can work for the seasons to come

Can you provide a link to the game in question? I see no such games in this season so far.

Sometimes you are just unlucky, most the time when you have a 20+ rating advantage on your opponent, it’s about 80-85% to win or draw, usually the home advantage would evaporate due to the preserverence of your players being higher by that margin. But there is definitely still the chance of the lower rated squad pulling a rabbit out of the hat.

Also, shoot on sight is probably the worst tactic you can run with better rated players. Usually more of a desperation play against a stronger squad when you absolutely have to win to prevent relegation or something like that. I wouldn’t generally recommend that for regular usage since it will lead to underperformance.

Thank you for your help These games in question occurred this season (0-2) not 0-3 that was a typo on my end and the season where I got promoted into the 2nd division I was only losing to teams at the bottom of the table with 45-50 rated teams. Noted will change from shoot on sight ! Thank you very much

You need 3 midfielders or possession will suffer

That 0-2 game was because you had 10 players and i saw at least one of those that was mid 40 rated and not part of your team anymore. Playing a man down is difficult to win even a game like that. Also, it was noted that you need at least 3 mids or possession will suffer, this is very true and i usually play with 4. You can usually play a MO in place of an FC and be better for it.
