New Cup Idea

I saw a post the other day where another user proposed a new league, however, I was thinking there should maybe be a new international cup

At the moment there is the Super Cup, VM WC and the Newcomers Challenge but I was thinking there should maybe be a Intermediate Challenge that sits between the WC and NC.

Obviously this would downgrade the NC to a third tier tournament but looking at it's recently history it isn't exactly 'newcomers' winning it, I know that's due to the nature of a game which has a long shelf life but only a hardcore user base.

However, I think the new tournament would give the teams that competing in the NC regular but can't quite break into the WC a fresh challenge, a bit more prize money and less of a fixture pill up.

Whereas, I think it would give teams who currently don't get close to the prize pool of the NC a chance to do so and might also encourage new user to stick around as instead of seeing teams that have been around for a decade being the best newcomers they will see team who are definitely ahead of them but not lightyears away so to speak.

I know there are probably legitimate reason against this idea and obviously the logistics of doing it aren't that simple but thought I put it out there and maybe get a wee bit of discussion going.

You'll always get teams lowering their rank to enter any cup, especially a new one.

It would probably be worse than the NCC. The Unisport ones use to be worse when they came about.

We were promised years ago that the NCC would be revised to allow eligibility only to new teams, but, I suspect this has gone into the long long list of jobs to do which appear to have been sidelined in favour of other things.

The easiest new cup to implement would be a " Cup Winner's Cup " using the same code as the Super Cup and pitched between that and the World Cup regarding prize money,

Nice idea, however as someone else mentioned people will always adjust their team ranking to win tournaments.


That's why the NCC isn't so prestigious anymore.

Better to develop your team play the long game and join the leaders in the super cup etc

Regarding the unfair stipulations for the "New Comers Challenge Cup " which some teams abuse on frequent basis due to using ranking as the perimeter swap it for stadium size and set the maximum of 16 thousand capacity this would certainly curtail big clubs with assets entering the competition.

Also set a rule once you win the NCC cup 3 times an auto ban will exclude you from the competition

Just checked the last 60 winners of the N.C.C only 7 clubs had less than 16k staduim capacity surely something needs to change

The manipulation thing is a issue tbf but if there three cups it might be harder to drop between thresholds but people will still do it, maybe as mentioned changing the entry requirements would be the best solution to that issue.

Or instead of a new international cup, maybe you could have a second teir domestic cup with restrictions on league requirements but I guess teams can manipulate that too and tbf it seems most leagues only have about 4ish active leagues so they'd be bot heavy.

What are the Unisports Cups if you don't mind me asking.
