Right. Am I being stupid, but when I select one of the scout options it warns me I am about to be charged X credits. Does this not get charged, or is it refunded, when the scout report is set up? I don't want to get charged for a report which I don't really want/need and am only taking advantage of the kind prize offer.

'Chris Mads' is the name of the scout and he should appear at the top of the talent scout screen - https://www.virtualmanager.com/new_scout_reports

There should be a green tile underneath his name that takes you into the options for creating a scout report.

No need for staff search, it’s only a one time report. Also have no clue what his attributes are but can only assume 20/20 for potential and ability. I tried going for a potential untrained youth, but came up empty. Maybe I’ll have better luck next time.

Any info would be helpful but is there a way to validate a player that is reasonable or ok? Or is it a case of sifting through transfer list and doing player comparison and attaining a value that way.

More asking for long term player value as my squad is youth but I am hoping to anticipate what their future values could roughly be say when they reach 25 etc

Yes, you scout the team they are currently a part of with a scout that has 20 in potential assessment. These values are not always 100% accurate and get exceedingly more inaccurate the lower the potential assessment value is, but for a 20, they will usually never be off by more than 1 grouping. So if your scout is saying promising and they have a 20 in potential assessment, then the realistic range for the player is reasonable to formidable, and it’s more often than not going to be in the initial assessment range.

Players can also undergo a potential change at some or multiple points in their career, but usually those are upward shifts and rarely downwards and they also don’t change more than one group at a time. You will honestly never actually know if a player will undergo a shift like this either, just that one day the training will suddenly be higher or lower and stay consistent in the new range.
