The system of coding we use for the forums are BB codes.
The principle behind them is pretty simple.
You have 2 sets of square brackets and between each set of square brackets you have a code like so...
[example] [/example]
The second set of brackets always reads "forward-slash code" (/code).
The first set of brackets sometimes, but not always, reads "code equals" (code=).
Inbetween the two sets of brackets you always have what you want the reader to see, whether that be an image (which must be presented in link format) or text.
For instance...
[example]text[/example]
There are many codes you can use. To use them, just follow the instructions above and substitute the word "example" for the code listed below.
Italics is a lower case i
Bold is a lower case b
Tostrike out use del
To create a list use list
To insert an image use img (for this, instead of writing text between the two sets of square brackets, you need to insert a url for an image you have found online or which you have uploaded yourself).
To hyperlink you use the code url= in the first set of square brackets and /url in the second set. After the equals in the first set you need to insert a full url to the webpage you want to link to. Whatever text you enter between the two sets of square brackets is what will be hyperlinked (clickable), so make sure it somehow links into the page you are sending the reader to.
There is also a BB code you use for embedding youtube videos.
This BB code has only one set of square brackets with the code youtube=.
The tricky bit in using this code is locating the video ID to put after the equals (=) sign.
To locate the youtube video ID, bring up the video you want to embed and isolate the part of the url (address) which begins v= (v equals). Copy from v= until the end of the url and paste it into your BB code. An example of a youtube video ID can be found below.

NB. ALL BB codes should be entered with absolutely NO SPACES anywhere to ensure they work! If you try a BB code and find it hasn't worked then first make sure there are no spaces! Failing that, get in touch with me and I'd be happy to help you out.
