What's on the horizon? - May 2009

It's time once again to let you guys know what's going on in the Virtual Manager development team and which improvements you can expect in the coming months.

As we've mentioned earlier, we have recently switched our focus from adding new features to optimising and enhancing existing ones.

Here are some of the things we plan on improving in the near future:

[b]Mail system[/b]
The mail system is one of the oldest parts of Virtual Manager, and it has not seen many improvements for several years. We are planning to take the mail system apart and come up with a new, more efficient version with a thread-based message view.

[b]Friends[/b]
The friends list system is seldom used and has lots of room for improvements. We plan plan to flesh out the friends system to make it much more useful and interesting for you to keep tabs on what's happening with your friends' clubs.

[b]Shop[/b]
We are currently working several improvements to our shop, in order to make it simpler to use and give you new options, such as Paypal payments and recurring subscriptions.

[b]New user experience[/b]
It is difficult for new users to get started playing Virtual Manager. There is a huge number of options and it is difficult to figure out where to begin. The beginners' tutorial which we introduced earlier this year has helped a lot, but we still feel that there is more we can do in order to make the new user experience as pleasant as possible.

[b]Federations[/b]
Federations are a great idea, but so far, we have been unable to dedicate enough development resources to make the system truely. Since we still believe that the federations system has a lot of potential, we remain determined to improve upon this system in the future.

[b]Have your say[/b]
The things mentioned above are some of the main areas that we will focus on in the coming months, but there are lots of other features that can be improved. If there are areas that YOU feel are in need of some tweaks or redevelopment, don't hesitate to add your ideas in this thread.
