New version tomorrow

Rasmus Rønn Nielsen, The Dudes 14 December 2009, 15:11

Tomorrow we will upload a new version of Virtual Manager which hold a lot of cool updates. Some of the major changes are as follows:

Redesign
The following pages have been redesigned: player profile, country profile, player comparison, manager profile. As these pages had to be rewritten to comply with our new technical platform (Ruby on Rails) we took the opportunity to update the layout at the same time, as this would have had to be done at some point anyway.

New player adresses
If you go to a player's profile you will see something like this in the address bar: "player/index.php?player_id=[id]". In the new version the address will look like this: "/players/[id]-[name]". The cool thing about this is that you cannot longer "traverse" all players in the game by just changing the ID. This ensures that clubs who have used this "trick" to gain certain advantages over other clubs can no longer do so. Also, it increases the value of the scouts as you can no longer browse players' profile "manually".

Goal keeper stats
One of the most requested features from you guys (and girls!), is goal keeper specific stats. This feature should have been included in the game a long time ago, but due to many other important tasks it had to be postponed. But nonetheless, better late than never! The goal keeper stats will be converted directly from the existing stats like so:

Finishing > Handling
Dribling > One on one
Passing > Goal kick
Tackling > In area
Marking > Aerial
Penalty > Reflexes

As you can see it is only the technical stats that will be goal keeper specific. The change has been applied to the match engine in such a way that keepers who perform well in the current version, will generally also perform well in the new version.

The new version will be uploaded tomorrow morning at 7 o'clock. Due to database optimization the update may take up to 45 minutes.
